Korean Reading Practice for Beginners #1
Saturday, December 20th, 2008Hi all, 현우 here. We’ve made a new video to help beginners improve their Korean reading skills. This video is the first one of the five in the series. Hope you’ll enjoy watching it, and repeating after the sounds! And be sure to subscribe to the KoreanClass101 Youtube Channel as well so you can get the new videos as soon as they’re updated ^^ Thank you!

우와! this is a very good idea. I’ve been studying Korean with you guys for about two months now and although my reading skills are improving I still find it difficult to read at normal speed. It feels a bit like a kid learning how to read for the first time.

bart, same here even though I’ve been into it for much longer. My reading skill is still so bad that I cannot read a kidbook to my children at normal speed… It’s because I’m still reading every single sound instead of reading the 글자 as a whole.
현우씨, I love your video ideas, they’re absolutely brilliant. First you brought the handwriting series, and now the reading series

hahahahaha!!! sounds like a tongue twister!!!
I would like to see a video that has sentences, maybe a short story. Viewers get some time to try reading it first, then the sound comes in. That would help me to practice my reading skills, and I’ll also have any mistakes corrected. Something like the pinochio lesson, but viewers get time to try reading it themselves first.

Thanks for the comment. Understanding how the letters work in Korean is fairly easy but it does take some time to really master reading them at a normal speed ^^ I hope these next four videos coming up soon will be of help to you as well!!

Thank you for the compliment ^^ I think it’s really important to practice a lot, but often times it’s hard to know HOW to practice or WHAT to practice WITH. So that’s why I’m making these videos ^^ Hopefully the next four videos will be helpful too!

고맙습니다 for the suggestion ^^ There isn’t any story included in this series but there are some sentences for sure. But don’t worry - this is the “for Beginners” version. I’m also working on a series called “Korean Reading Practice for Intermediate Learners” and it will include some short stories ^^.

This is very nice. I’m learning so much that i can practtice a lot. I started studying hangul mal when I had my korean friend from one of my class subject. I got interested with the language because of my friend.
Thank you so much!

In the Super Junior song “Rokkugo” they rap these backwards, so I knowing them forward now would be essential!!! I guess this would go along with the theme of their song….gokkuro. Even if Super Junior is immature, annoying, and gay to some people, their songs and videos on YouTube are helping me with my language study. Them and Big Bang..obviously I have a musical learning affinity.
Thanks for this video.
