I’m the worst of both worlds– by Korean handwriting isn’t pretty, and I can’t write fast.

thanks for the video! Korean Handwriting 비디오를 좋아해요 ^^
My korean handwriting is similar to the text on the computar although I can’t seem to make everything proportional to each other, if you know what I mean….

very helpful! I’m guessing it’s not like “cursive” in english where you’re taught how to do it faster in a certain way… more like personal handwriting style? still it’s very helpful– the most I’ve heard about this before is maybe proportions (not sure about those rules) and only then using computer like gulja in maybe like a workbook. so thanks!

That’s interesting — How do Koreans learn to write cursive? In my experience, we learned to read in Kindergarten or first grade in elementary school, then a couple years later, in second grade and third grade we learned a specific style of cursive writing. We had books with dotted lines showing the shape of the letter in cursive and had to trace it until we memorized it.
Do Koreans learn cursive writing like that, or is it just something they pick up from watching adults write?
Of course the way that I write now is pretty different from the standard form in some ways, like combining -ing into one letter and adding or subtracting different embellishments.

Jeff,
Koreans usually don’t go through any kind of ‘learning’ process as far as cursive is concerned - on the contrary, we’re taught how to write ‘beautifully’ or rather, ‘artistically’ but… now that I’m thinking about it, no one ever learns any kind of cursive writing in Korea ^^ it’s just a result of each person’s need for a shorter writing time for the same number of letters they have to write, I think. ^^
Leanne, Tia, Thanks!!
And haha… I like that pen too^^

thank you for this 동영상~
i didn’t watch the first one yet, but this is very helpful and i’m looking forward to seeing more.
suggestion, if i may:
다음엔 좀 더 자새히 설명을 해줄수있으면 좋을거 같에요~
i know it’s hard to explain something that you didn’t formally learn…
but maybe it would be helpful to go through your process for writing with each letter of the korean alphabet using dif. words?
a lot of korean language texts and programs miss these very practical linkages to help learners become truly fluent in korean speaking, writing, listening.
and you hit this 부족한 점 right on the dot.
bravo, 그리고 encore! ^^
