Back to my hometown[video]

안녕하세요. 현우예요.

I am back in my hometown for 추석 (Chuseok) and as it’s expected each year, the trip back home isn’t always very easy, with all the people moving all together. But I made it back home safely. The bus ride took the time it usually takes - about 4 hours, and I arrived home at 4:00 am after taking a taxi from the bus terminal to my parents’ house. The bus fare from Seoul to Korea was around 22,000 won, and the taxi fare was around 6,000 won.

The bus stopped at a service station for 15 minutes so that people can use the bathroom or get something to eat or drink. And here’s a video to show you what a 고속도로(express way) 휴게소(service station) looks like at night. :)

재미있게 보세요 ^^

    You drive on the opposite side of the road than we do here in England! Haha I always so get confused when I go somewhere that does that. Then I get used to it, and get confused when I come back here to England XD;

    The bus fare is so cheap o_o I converted that, and it’s only £11!! I don’t think you can go anywhere at all in England for that little …

    And the taxi fare converts to £3 … I don’t know how far you took the taxi, but a 10 minute drive in a taxi here costs about twice as much as that T__T;

    I was really confused when I traveled to England too :D :D

    I think the bus fare is really cheap, too. Domestic travel in Korea really cheap - except for the KTX that costs twice as much as the bus does but it’s fast, so I can’t complain. And the taxi fare is cheap, too - I took the taxi for about 20 minutes :) I’m always so confused by the taxi fare whenever I travel to Japan and China - in Japan it is unnecessarily super expensive and in China it’s really cheap, even considering the differences in the prices of things. XD

    Thanks! I’m having a great time! 맛있는 음식 많이 먹었어 ㅎㅎㅎ

    When my bestfriend went to Korea a few months ago, she took the subway and buses pretty much every day (for 3 weeks!) and was amazed at how cheap it all was - and she lives in Holland, where travel is really cheap anyway! Whenever I go to Holland I’m always amazed at how cheap everything is - travel, food, shopping - so I think when I come visit Korea, I’ll think I’ve died and gone to cheap-shopping heaven XD

    Enjoy all that good food ;~;

    Is it common with two lanes on Korean highways or is it often more?

    Are the highways straightish? I’m curious, because I hear there’s a lot of mountains in Korea, and it’s the case here [Norway], too, and our roads are generally not very straight. XD

    Oh, and what’s the general speed limit like? I saw something about 110 and 90 km/h.

    I’m just full of questions today!

    Anywhoo, 즐거운 추석 보내세요!

    Chriss :D Well, highways usually have move lanes than two, but some parts are narrower than the other parts ^^. And in Korea, yes, there are a lot of mountains as you know but the highways are built to be very straight. Some smaller roads (I guess our bus was on one of those smaller roads at that time) can be curvy ^^

    The general speed limit varies from highway to highway. On some highways it’s 90km/h and on some others it’s 110km/h ^^

    Thanks for the questions!
    And 고마워요, 추석 잘 보낼게요 :)

    Nah, thank you for answering my questions. And be warned; it’s dangerous to thank me for being curious (also known as nosy), you might never see the end of inquiries. =P

    Taliana: England is just so expensive because of the pound… it’s a wonder you still get so many tourists hahaha! But you get it good, because when you travel to Asia, you can live like a queen since everything’s so cheap! :)
