화요일 저녁에 설날 언휴가 시작되었는데 학원에서 퇴근하기 전에 동료들에게 “새해 복 많이 받으세요”라는 인사를 주었어요. 착한 인사 이라도 그 인사가 지겹기 시작해요. 아마 제가 서양 사람 이라서 이렇게 생각할 테니까요. 하지만 지금부터 내년까지 새해 인사를 줄 수 없으면 좋겠죠!
저도 따뜻한 날씨를 손꼽아 기다려요. 진짜 추운 날씨를 싫어하죠!
여러분: 봄까지 감기 조심하시지요!

Daniel, 맞아요. “착한 인사”이기는 한데 ^^ 너무 오랫동안 똑같은 인사를 반복한다는 느낌을 받기도 해요.

▶ 착한 인사이기는 하지만, 그 인사가 지겨워지기 시작해요.
아마 제가 서양 사람 이라서 이렇게 생각할 테니까요.
▶ 아마 제가 서양 사람이라서 이렇게 생각하는 거겠죠.
하지만 지금부터 내년까지 새해 인사를 줄 수 없으면 좋겠죠!

Ah, thanks for the corrections. I’m especially mad at myself for originally messing up the “착한 인사이기는 하지만” line. My Korean book taught the “~기는 하지만” grammar point, and I’ve been working on using it in my posts and occasional Korean grammar speech. Here was the perfect opportunity to use it, and look what happened!
~sigh. 그냥 더 열심히 공부해야 할 거 같아요!

한국에서는 4월14일에 ‘블랙 데이’도 있죠?ㅎㅎ
검은 옷을 입고 커피나 자장면을 먹는 날이죠?
자장면은 먹고 싶지만
다 검은 색은 싫어요.

It’s strange how many of those special days exist in Korea. There’s 벨렌타인 데이 (which is different from it’s 서양 equivalent), 화이트 데이, 블랙 데이, 로즈 데이, 어린이 날, 카르네이션 데이, 스승의 날, 식목일, 뻬뻬로 데이 and so on. And these are just the most popular ones, you could also add many others like 사과날. Some of these 데이s are traditional, but most of them are quite recent. I would be interested in the background of these korean customs. Where do they come from, when were they celebrated first, how and why did they become so popular. Wouldn’t that be an idea for a new post?
