KoreanClass101.com Group on Youtube

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

We’re all shy when it comes to learning a new foreign language, but how much or how quickly your 한국어 can improve really depends on how often you say it all out LOUD. It would be ideal if you have people around you with whom you can practice everything you’ve learned from the lessons updated at KoreanClass101.com, but even if you don’t, what is Youtube for?

You can watch the videos that your fellow listeners of KClass have made, and share your own videos! Want to watch what others have to say in their videos? Want to listen to other listeners introducing themselves in Korean? In the mood for making a video intro of your own? Check out the KClass Group on Youtube!

Would anyone be interested in doing weekly video assignments? I think it’d be a good motivational tool. I always need something to motivate me and I think weekly “homework” would be a good idea.

    Homework might be:
    1) Read out the dialogue
    2) Interview someone Korean you know. (Have a look at some of my Korean movies, an “interview” will probably just be 1 question! Easy!)
    3) A short monologue (”short” as in 10 seconds!) on a topic raised in a lesson (for all you advanced learners!)

I’ve done some similar “assignments” before at Japanesepod, have a look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNOHUVDZBNQ (featuring the voice of our very own Hyunwoo 선생님)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hw6vqi9pUg

I cut together all those movies myself, so don’t worry about that side of it.

I’m open to suggestions. I’m not really in a position to set homework for most levels, I’ve only been learning for a couple of months, but I really think it would be useful to have weekly assignments, and would really need to have someone else involved or I’d be too lazy to do it!

I’ve made a few videos, but only sporadically. I think I need to be part of a group before I get off my **** and do anything… so help me please! It’ll be dead easy… 1st assignment will probably be to ask someone a single question on camera!

I think the video thing is a great idea. I’ve also made a few videos, but it’s a little hard and boring to do them by yourself without any inspiration! I fully support this!

현우 and I made one last weekend. It was a lot of fun, despite my many mistakes!

There are endless possibilities for this. I like how maxiewawa recorded a skype conversation from a dialog. An interview on the street is also a fantastic idea. Even just recording an interaction(like when you meet your girlfriend’s 엿날 남자찬구!)

Max, that’s an awesome idea. Teamwork can make everything so fun and interesting, and like you said, it will surely motivate not only the people who are participating but also all the others who are watching :D

Austin, I had a really good time taking the video with you last weekend. I am adding subtitle to it, but it’s taking me some time. Hehe. Everyone, 기대하세요!

I’m all about weekly video assignments……..I have no one to speak Korean to, I think thats why in my 3 years of studying I am so stunted at my level.

I very much want to participate.

  8. avatar maxiewawa Says:

Everyone, you can see my email from my link, send me an email or something and let’s see what we can do!

And I’m dying to see Austin’s movie!

Yep, I’m down too. This would be fun.

Excellent idea. I’m taking a Saturday Korean class and meet with my Korean conversation partner most Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    Perhaps…

    1) Short interview with my Korean conversation partner
    2) Segments of our cultural exchange discussions (mostly in English due to my poor Korean skills, but hopefully will improve)
    2) Review what I learned from Saturday class and/or KoreanClass101.com

What ever happened here Max?….Let’s do some CPR on this subject and get it moving again.
